Cope served in the U.S. Navy as a medical entomologist for more than 23 years. Cope directed the Armed Forces Pest Management Board and earned 24 ribbons and medals, including the Defense Superior Service Medal, for his leadership. While in the Navy, Cope held a variety of assignments, including conducting operational and research entomology in 18 countries and ultimately serving as director of the Armed Forces Pest Management Board as well as director of pest management in Washington D.C. where he had oversight of all aspects of pest management for the Department of Defense. Dr. Hinkle contributed a chapter to the 2024 book The Physician’s Guide to Delusional Infestation and wrote “Itches, Phobias, and Delusions” for the 11th Edition of the Mallis Handbook of Pest Control. She has delivered more than 170 presentations on the condition for pest management associations, industry conferences, and professional organizations across the country. She earned her B.S. in Biology and M.S. in Medical Entomology from Auburn University and her Ph.D. from the University of Florida. She joined the University of Georgia in 2001 after nine years at the University of California.

Following Cope’s post-doctoral studies at UCLA, where he discovered a mosquito species that caused a malaria outbreak in San Diego, he was commissioned as a Navy lieutenant.

NEPMA Annual Meeting & Awards Dinner (02 Dec 2026)

NEPMA Annual Meeting & Awards Dinner
Cafe Escadrille, 26 Cambridge St, Burlington, MA 01803

Once a year, the pest management community of New England gets one room, one night, and one reason to be there.

It's the evening where colleagues become contacts and contacts become friends — where the industry takes stock of where it's headed and who's leading the way, all over a great meal in good company.

What makes the night worth clearing your calendar for:

Time with the peers and leaders who've built this industry

A first look at where NEPMA is headed in the year ahead

A four-course dinner and hosted bar in a room that feels like a celebration

The presentation of NEPMA's highest honor — the Bartlett W. Eldredge Award

You're cordially invited. And we mean it - the evening isn't complete without you!

Pricing & Attendance Policy

Your ticket includes a four-course dinner and hosted bar (open for a limited time), so you can relax and enjoy the evening in style.

NEPMA WDI Certification 2027 (14 Jan 2027)

NEPMA’s Wood-Destroying Insect (WDI) Certification and Registration Program provides pest management and real estate inspection professionals with the knowledge and credentials needed to conduct WDI inspections and recommend treatment options.

This comprehensive 1.5-day training covers the biology, behavior, and identification of wood-destroying insects; legal responsibilities associated with WDI inspections; and proper completion of the NPMA-33 Wood Destroying Insect Inspection Report. Participants will also learn key inspection considerations and reporting practices relevant to real estate transactions.

The program includes 12 hours of classroom instruction, a comprehensive training manual authored by Dr. George Rambo, and a written registration exam. Professionals who successfully pass the exam will receive a certificate of completion and be added to the NEPMA WDI Registry. WDI registration is valid for three years.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for pest management professionals and other real estate inspection professionals seeking initial WDI certification. Professionals whose WDI registration is due for renewal should register for the separate WDI Recertification course.
